Brilliant

Okay, this is genuinely brilliant: I am processing a project proposal to develop sniffer bees. Because they're cheaper than dogs.

Give 'em the money, says I.

Genius. Mind you, the idea itself isn't new; anyone who's studied Asterix would realise that finding people with bees is easy, as long as you cover them in honey first. also, in (i think)Asterix and the Black Gold, there is a message-carrying fly. Hurrah for Gosciny and Underzo for getting there first.

I'm not sure that Gosciny and Underzo quite realised the full potential of the bee, though. These bees are going to be able to sniff out drugs and other illegal substances! And where it takes a dog 24 months to learn how, a bee takes a mere 32 hours!

"Bees are loaded into individual holders, in a mechanised, quick and efficient manner, and allow the restrained bees to be fed when required...." There's a photo of the bees all lined up in their holders...they're so SWEET!

And if a bee can do the work of a dog, think of the other possibilities! Guide bees for the blind, anyone? The blind person could just follow the humming...
