King for five minutes

This evening's show opened with me playing Elvis in a production called "Elvis is Alive".

It was interrupted by an emergency, in line with the format of the show. But I had hoped, against all hope, that our techie Chris might just let the Elvis show run, without introducing the emergency.

Because as I thrust my pelvis and rocked my roll, I find myself really discovering the character of Elvis. Spectators must have been convinced that this was a role I had prepared for, so convincing was my portrayal of the King. And what a jolly good show it would have been.

Is it wrong and egotistical of me to wish that tonight the fringe had witnessed me starring in a full blown hour of Elvis songs?

Am I wrong to hope that the company will see the merit of my performance and offer me the remainder of the run to perfect it, free from the shackles of an improvised narrative?

Frankly, James, that is so wrong I don't think I can describe it...
