August 14, 2004AideenWhy Aideen? Who or what is Aideen? Don't expect any answers, because I do not know myself. I am writing this at the computer at C venues, and when I typed in "A" to the title bar, it brought up the word "Aideen". So confused was I by this unexpected turn of events that I forgot what the original "A" was for. So "Aideen" it shall remain. If anybody knows who or what he/she/it is, please get in touch. We have been having a fine old time in the bustling city of Edinburgh, mocking human statues and telling people how lovely our show is. Yesterday Andrew Pontzen and myself walked past a man sitting on a bollard and wailing "how long will you hate me for, Loretta?" That's how wonderful it is here. Acting-wise we have seen a couple of our own cast members branching out into dangerous new territory. On thursday night, James Aylett played the part of a blind dog with commendable passion; every audience member must have been convinced that he at least has some canine parentage. Last night, Philip Stott took on the eponymous lead role in the opening of a children's play called "Manghost" (an idea which shows a lot of promise). Several audience members remain convinced that Phil, as the Manghost, was actually see-through. Perhaps Andrew Ormerod felt he needed to do something to top these virtuoso performances; he took on the role of a baker's wife transforming into a giant staple. Brilliant though it was, my Elvis now seems rather tame in comparison. Posted by James Lark at August 14, 2004 02:13 PMComments
