Back on the road

It's been an awfully exciting day for us, one way or another. James made the journey from Cornwall to Suffolk, managing it in less time than National Rail thought possible (by using a taxi); Andrew O flew back from New York to make our first show; and we stuffed my car full of props, cast and crew, lashed the set to the roof, and spent much of the two hour journey to Halesworth listening to the delicate orchestral sound of vibrating luggage straps.

The Cut is a lovely venue, a good size and nicely presented. Despite being out of the way it seems to have a good following - bearing in mind Suffolk hasn't heard of us (the lovely people at Radio Suffolk notwithstanding) it felt good to get an audience at all, and we got a good audience, full of people up for panto fun.

The story revolved around French Australians trying to build a wooden aeroplane to escape Australia so they could claim it back on the insurance. The Australian Australians (probably British Australians, although this was never made clear) objected, and the German Australians were far too busy mining tin. In the end, almost everyone died, leaving Australia to the Aborigines (or Original Australians, as we'll call them).

James offended a guy in the audience, I offended Germaine Greer (and also about half the audience, who were presumably close friends of hers), and Andrew started functioning on a different plane due to jet lag.

On the way home, we played an hour long game of Mornington Crescent. Amelia won, because Chris (our musical improviser for the next week) foolishly took MC out of Nip. Let that be a warning to you all.

How did you offend Germaine Greer? Come on spill the beans. Did you make honking noises while squeezing her breasts?
